Black Mountain Cycle Centre
#Dirtfarm
Nestled away in the stunning surroundings of the Black Mountains, there is a beast laying unseen from the unwary traveller and even the locals.
This beast flows and follows the terrain leaving no visible scarring of the land, if you own a mountain bike you want to add this place to your bucket list of places to ride.
The Centre offers trails for all abilities from beginner to pro rider, the blue is super flowy and a recent addition to the centre, the blacks are fast and techie with massive tables at the bottom that wouldn't look out of place on a world cup track.
I caught up with Shaun Bevan at the centre : Trail builder and designer at the centre here is what he had to say.
Wayne: Shaun give us the low down fella.
Shaun:
"Okay so it's nearly been a year in the making and is a private venture on a wooded hillside in South Wales. Jo and Gwenda Binns are the owners. How it came about was... after creating a big chunk of Bikepark Wales, FOD, Afan Bikepark etc... I felt we were still missing something in South Wales. I saw on Facebook that Gary Broad was building some wooden kickers in an open field, and was intrigued to see what was going on.
So I went down to the farm where I met Gary and the owners Jo and Gwenda, who were really lovely and didn't know me from Adam! Gary had built some nice trails already and I could see the potential there.

I told them that I would like to develop the trails there so we formed a Company called the Black Mountains Cycle Centre aka BMCC aka DirtFarm. I told them to trust me and they did. We hired in a digger for a week and I built the first of many jump lines. I have so much more I want to build down on the farm and the future is to just keep building fun flowing trails."
Shaun also says "Its only early days for the centre, and we have no external funding. So its slow progress but more people who come through the doors, the more we can develop the trails and maybe a cafe/bikeshop ?

And the rest is history
